Talk to Laura

Talk to Laura

Kingston is a friendly and inclusive club but, with 80 members, it is inevitable that someone will have problems whether at work or home or because injury is stopping them doing what they love best. The club’s committee decided that there should be a named person that anyone can turn to for help or just to talk about their problems and we were delighted when Laura agreed to become Kuhac’s first Welfare Officer. She is a regular at club runs and other events or you can contact her through Facebook.

We are working to ensure that Laura has a small fund to back up her work and the club captains and other members of the committee will be available at all times to offer whatever support they can. So, if you have a problem, remember we are always there for you and please talk to Laura, maybe she will take you to her favourite cafe for a bit of cake 😊

More support: In addition to Laura's role, Mike Gill has agreed to help her when necessary. Mike is a former RMN ( a mental health nurse) with lots of experience of issues around mental health and said that he welcomes the chance to work with Laura on the welfare of our members. He has also offered to deliver some basic awareness training about mental health conditions for anyone in the club who is interested in this.
